STINGER FIRM
Trust and operating record
Firms must keep client money held in trust apart from the firm’s own operating money. This record keeps the two as separate lines on every matter, so you can see what came in and went out of each.
What it does
Here is what it does.
Who it is for: For the attorney or bookkeeper responsible for the trust record.
- Records money in or out on a matter, always naming trust or operating.
- Refuses a line that does not say which account.
- Records an instruction to move an amount from trust to operating, or back, on a named matter.
- Keeps a reconciliation checklist: the bank statement is in a person’s hand, the trust list is in a person’s hand, and the client lines were compared by a person.
- Shows the three-way check only from the lines a person recorded.
- Exports the full trust and operating record as its own desk paper.
How it works
- A client’s $2,500 retainer arrives. Say "record $2,500 in on trust for Porch repair."
- When the fee is earned, say "move $1,800 from trust to operating on Porch repair." The instruction is recorded.
- At month end, a person marks each line of the reconciliation checklist.
- Download the trust and operating paper for your records.
Sign-in
One sign-in.
Staff use the same Stinger sign-in as Command Center. Signing in opens that person’s Firm portal, Practice, or House.
Please read
- It is a record. It moves no money and has no bank connection.
Please read. Firm is office software, not legal advice. Synthetic demonstration shop. Not a law firm, not a court, not a filing portal. Annabelle is an AI and can be wrong. Check anything that matters before you rely on it.
