General Construction
What the platform does for a general contractor: it tracks a build from permit to certificate of occupancy, with the inspection sequence and the money in view.
What it does for you
- Follows a job through its real milestones: permit, foundation, shell, dry-in, rough-ins, inspections, finishes, final, CO.
- Keeps the paperwork that runs the job: RFIs, submittals, change orders, and the notice-to-owner and notice-of-commencement trail.
- Tracks the money the way the trade does: draws, retainage, pay apps, and lien releases.
- Holds the close-out list so the CO and the retainage release do not stall.
Your Command Center, in your words
General Construction has its own configuration.
Stinger is one system, not a different product per trade. What changes is the configuration it runs on: the words on the screen, the columns on the board, the stages a job moves through, and the rules that decide what comes first. This is the General contractor configuration, as it ships.
The words on the screen
- A piece of work is called
- Job
- An incoming call is called
- Inbound lead
- The board is called
- Pipeline
Job types: New lead, Estimate, Follow-up, Booked.
The columns on your board
- Draft
- Ready
- Booked
An incoming caller is a inbound lead.
The stages a job moves through
- Captured
- Qualified
- Quoted
- Approved
- Signed
- Paid
The rules that decide what comes first
- Owner approval is required before sending
Set your trade in Settings and this dashboard switches to your industry’s own words, jobs, and pipeline.
How you get it: tell us your trade and we set the configuration up with you during onboarding. See every trade's setup questions side by side.
How it differs
Config-backed. The three main license classes are carried with citations. Threshold-building and condominium-milestone sequences are also in the config.
Florida licensing classes
General contractor
Unlimited as to the type of work, and may contract for any activity requiring licensure under Part I.
Fla. Stat. 489.105(3)(a)

Fla. Stat. 489.105(3)(c)

Job types
New single-family custom buildpermit
The longest cycle, the most trades, and the most owner-decision points. Permit, site, foundation, shell, dry-in, rough-ins, inspections, insulation and drywall, finishes, final, CO.
Production / tract residential buildpermit
The same sequence as a custom home, compressed and repeated. Won on schedule discipline, not craft.
Addition build
Structurally the hardest residential work - tying new to existing, matching elevations, and triggering code upgrades in the existing structure.
Whole-house remodel / kitchen / bath build
The highest change-order rate of any job type. The customer lives in the risk.
Commercial tenant improvement (TI) buildpermit
A landlord, a tenant, and a hard opening date. Permit and inspection driven.
Ground-up commercial buildpermit
Threshold-building rules likely engage, which puts a second, independent structural inspection calendar on the job.
Multifamily / condo restoration build
Increasingly driven by milestone inspections: concrete restoration, balcony and railing, waterproofing, envelope. One of the clearest current pipelines in Florida commercial and multifamily construction.
Storm restoration build
Insurance-adjacent work, bound by the deductible, assignment-of-benefits and public-adjuster constraints that apply to an insured property loss.
Disaster / emergency repair build
Dry-in, stabilise, board-up, then permanent scope.
Permits
Permit triggers from the pack. The pack does not name the local permit or its filing window on purpose, so this page does not either. The building department confirms those.
-
Any construction
-
A threshold building - greater than three stories or 50 feet in height, or an assembly occupancy classification exceeding 5,000 square feet in area with an occupant content greater than 500 persons
-
Taking more than 10 percent of the contract price as a deposit on residential real property - which obliges the contractor to apply for permits within 30 days and commence work within 90 days of permit issuance
Compliance rules
Obligations that fire on a job, from this trade's pack. Items marked as an open question were not fully settled by the research and should be confirmed, not asserted.

The screens
The captures above are a pool construction job, shown as an example of the shared Construction workspace. The build screens are the same across trades; what changes for general construction is the licensing, stage sequence, and vocabulary on this page, not the screen layout.
Where it stands today
Config-backed for licensing, stages, and vocabulary. General construction runs on the shared build and command screens. Pool construction is the one build vertical with its own hard-themed screen set.
